Fred Diaz, Bill Krueger, Scott Becker and Erich Marx - "In other words 99.78% of sales were NOT all electrics" YOUR Not Going to Create ALL the Jobs Promised. It's Time YOU Fessed Up and Paid America Back.

One of my blogs viewers is really good at math.  The Bloomberg article read like a "puff piece" but those of us that have been monitor the "green investments" by the government know that something is just NOT right.

"....Tesla Motors Inc. (TSLA), the luxury battery-car company run by billionaire Elon Musk, is North America’s rechargeable auto sales leader so far this year as its Model S sedan passed General Motors Co. (GM)’s Chevrolet Volt...." Bloomberg

FYI- The NISSAN Leaf is becoming an "after thought" in the race for the EV.  NISSAN says their the first to "mass market" an EV BUT they won the race by using OUTDATED technology.  Thus Carlos Ghosn in the eyes of "smart people" has still not won the race. Whatever company has sold the most ev's by 2016 will be the winner.

From today's Bloomberg news. Add up the numbers for Tesla + Leaf, the main all electrics available, you get nearly 8 500 all electrics sold in the whole wide Lower-48 + Canada in first quarter 2013.

Annual rate is therefore about 34,000.

Total car and light vehicle sales in the US (not incl Canada) in 2012 were
15,600 000

That gives you the number to remember.

All electric sales were about 0.22 % of total car and light vehicle sales in US

In other words 99.78% of sales were NOT all electrics!

Ghosn isn't concerned that his company has overinvested in EVs. Nissan thinks it will be selling 500,000 electric vehicles a year. For the short term, he's not backing off the claim that Nissan will sell 1.5 million electric vehicles across its brands by 2015.
